Day of health gives back the eyesight to Limon people
Limonenses (people who live in Limon) have filled the Ophthalmology room of the Tony Facio hospital. They were waiting for the medical attention of 30 specialists. These doctors got to this city to treat patients who have all kinds of eyesight problems.
A striking order was made in the waiting lines.
The American Organization known as International Health Vision and the Hospital Tony Facio were the ones uncharged of this activity.
Sara Feltimore, director of this organization, explained that this grouping collaborates with the public health in Latin America.
Feltimore expressed that they came to collaborate with the ophthalmologists of the Costa Rican Insurance Service. They offer services for the well-taken care of the eyes.
The American group of doctors arrived on Sunday. They have the challenge to check thousands of patients during the whole week.
They are also having hundreds of patients each day. An important aspect is they are selecting the schedule for surgery in about 30 daily cases.
Most of them they have visual problems due to the formation of cataracts and many other visual problems.
The surgeries include treatment of problems, like squint illness in children and in adults.
In order to receive treatment, lenses or a surgery, the patients must be under a diagnosis of the ophthalmologists.
The patients are very grateful for this opportunity.
Doctors from Costa Rica also say that they have many years working in this process. It is specially for helping poor and needy people.
In Costa Rica a big number of children as of adults have eyesight problems. Almost 7 children from 10 need glasses and 5 from 10 need a surgery. These percentages don’t include adults or ancients were numbers increase.
Hopefully the government is realizing this health programs with international doctors all over the country. Doctors of many others specializations are coming and will help different towns.
